| #1 | Many of you probably read my post about my cat, Hershey, who passed away on Saturday, October 17th, 2009. Thank you all for your kind words and support...but things have not gotten better.
Not only am I still mourning the loss of my cat but now..My dog, Jasmine, who is 15 is very, very sick. We got the results back today and she has liver and kidney failure. Everything is repeating itself. Jasmine is ill, we took her to the vet, received bad news, now need to take her to a specialist..am sitting on the couch with her....this is exactly what we went through a little more then two weeks ago with Hershey girl..
My heart is breaking and I just don't know what to do. I can't even believe that this is happening with my dog right now. It's just unbelievable. I don't know how much more of this I can deal with....
Jasmine is not eating or drinking and is losing weight and shaking...Oh gosh...I am heartbroken.....
Thanks for listening.. :,( |

| #3 | That is just too much to handle, and I am so sorry. Perhaps Hershey is finding how wonderful the rainbow bridge is, but is lonely, and is calling to Jasmine. I hope she doesn't have to leave you so soon, but there never is any good time to go. My thoughts are with you.

| #4 | I am so sorry to hear that Jasmine is not doing well. Your heart has not even begun to heal over the passing of Hershey, and now you must cope with Jasmine's guarded condition. Both you and Jasmine will be in my thoughts and prayers. Jasmine misses Hershey so much and I agree with Jennifer that he might just be calling her home. Your petloss family will be here for you.

| #5 | Moonlight, I am so sorry to hear this. You have been through so much already and to get this sudden result is understandably very difficult for you.
I pray the specialist is able to devise a treatment for Jasmine and extend her life with you.
Hang in there and know that you can find comfort here.

| #8 | I am so sorry. This is heartbreaking.
I am keeping positive thoughts for your sweet Jasmine to be given (much) more time with quality of life. My Eddy had kidney disease and 2 Vets told me he was in kidney failure and they didn't even know how he was walking around.
That was 10 years before he died???? Have they suggested fluids yet to be given daily at home? And, was their diagnosis a result of blood they drew?
Please hold on and know that this does not mean the end for Jasmine. I have been through this before....many times.
Please let me know what the specialist finds and suggests to you after those tests are performed.
The 'not-eating' etc., and especially the shaking could mean that she is very dehydrated. Have they given her any fluids yet, even in the office?
Oh my. I'm waiting to hear all of these results. Let me know if sweet Jasmine has had fluids and how she felt after-wards.
I know every case is very unique, but I've seen so much with all of my dogs over the years when Vets have been puzzled, and many times.
Keeping you in my thoughts & prayers. And, I am so very sorry your "Hershey" is no longer with you.
((((( Hershey, Jasmine & Mommy ))))) You all have my love, Cynthia (Missing Eddy so much)

| #9 | Oh dear Moonlight, God works in mysterious ways. We don't understand and we think it's not fair, but for some reason, your Jasmine is meant to be with Hershey. Maybe Hershey is calling Jasmine or maybe Jasmine wants to be with Hershey. We don't have all the answers. I can't imagine what you're going through, but we do what we have to do. God makes us strong so we can get through these crisis. Adrenaline kicks in and we go into a mode where we just take care of the situation no matter how difficult. My first husband died almost 14 years after a bone marrow transplant for leukemia. He died from a bacterial infection. However, before he passed, I took care of him. I simply did what I had to do. It was so stressful and frightening, but I have no regrets because I did everything that I could possibly do. I did the same for my Cleo and I would do it all over again. Cleo had cancer and she was treated for 9 months. I took care of her 24/7. You can handle this. You set Hershey free and now God wants you to set Jasmine free. We simply do what we have to do. I am so so so sorry that this is happening, but just know that God doesn't give us anything we can't handle. We may think we can't, but we really can. You are so much stronger than you think. You, Jasmine and Hershey are in my prayers. Just take care of one thing at a time. We are here. Please let us know how you are doing. Sleep peacefully, Pam |

| #10 | Thank you all for your thoughts & prayers. Jasmine and I appreciate it.
SirEddysMomma, Jasmine is currently at the vets right now getting tests done so I haven't heard back yet if there is anything that can be done. I am praying that we can do something..but she is 15 years old already....
I am having a very difficult day....it is very upsetting dealing with this now and still mourning my cat. I just wish this could all go away and go back in time with the two of them when they were both young....ah..wouldn't that be nice?
To everyone saying that Hershey is calling her home...to be honest Hershey and Jasmine weren't friends...at all. LOL. So I don't think that's the case. |

| #11 | Moonlight,
Thanks for letting me know. I have been thinking about you and praying for sweet Jasmine and I know you're still mourning the loss of your baby Hershey and this has to be so darn hard and I'm just so sorry.
Poor baby, because if she is not drinking or eating then she is very dehydrated and when they're dehydrated...all of their symptoms are exaggerated. I'm sorry but I'm still very confused as to why she has not been given fluids.
I 'do' know about kidney failure but know nothing of the complications caused from liver failure. The kidney's can be treated if there are no other serious problems preventing her from recovering, fully. For example, if her heart is strong, her lungs are clear, she's drinking water and of course the most obvious sign, that she's fighting....she's trying. But, only 'you' know your Jasmine and if this is the case.
I question everything, Moonlight because I've had dogs that have been very sick and the Vets themselves, gave up on them and then...they recovered! I brought them home and took care of them and they all lived very, very long lives. And, not just LONG lives, but happy, healthy...quality lives.
So, I hope you don't mind all of my questions here, but I am just concerned and you sound a lot like me, you're doing absolutely everything that you can to until you know it's time and nothing else can be done. And, this is what we do for our babies and they would do the same for us, given the chance!
Where I am coming from, Moonlight is due to my own personal experiences. And, I agree with you when you say that Hershey is in NO hurry whatsoever to see Jasmine. Hershey has a crew and is doing it up big time and Jasmine (when it's her time) will have her own crew. I have dogs I have to separate. Socks hated Edgar and had a hit out on him for the 20 years he's been here. He saw Edgar as 'LUNCH' and nothing else. But, that's because Edgar tortured him when he was a puppy. (trying to make you smile)
I'm here for you and still sending positive energy and praying for whatever the outcome, that you will be given the strength you will need and the comfort to find some peace.
You have my love and so many hugs (((((((( Moonlight )))))))) Cynthia (Missing Eddy so much)

| #12 | Oh Gosh Moonlight, this is devastating to go through. My heart goes out to you.
I lost my boy Piezon in June of this year, and now my cat Sneakers passed this Wednesday. I've had a few months in between and it hurts, I can't imagine only a couple of weeks. Also, my two pets both died of kidney failure/disease. I know of your helplessness and heartache. You can talk to me/us, we're here for you and understand.
I'm thinking of you and hope you are doing okay. My heart is with you.
Big hugs of comfort, Lori

I miss her so much, she was my heart dog.. now my sweetie cat is 15 years old and has diabetes and sometimes does not do so well. I guess thats whats happens when we buy them the same age. | #14 | SirEddysMomma, I really appreciate all your help. Jasmine does too. :) Well she returned from the vet and her liver is bad..and she has a tumor on her adrenal gland. They don't "know" if it is cancer of not. Although I just read that 99% of tumors on those glands are not cancer. She has been eating and drinking again for the past few days and she is really improving. The vet said there was nothing he can do...which doesn't surprise me. If they can't do anything then I will do whatever I can to treat her. I know she is old but I am not giving up yet. She is eating some great wet food loaded with vitamins that she is really enjoying. She is drinking a lot of water. I am giving her milk thistle now for her liver. I'm opening up the capsule and putting it in her food. I read that milk thistle can clear all toxins out of the liver. So she had her 2nd dose of it today. She is starting to get up and move around again. A few days ago she was refusing food and not moving at all. I am so thankful to see some improvement and am hoping if I continue to treat her with vitamins and the milk thistle for her liver that maybe..just maybe...she can go on..even it's just a little longer. I will not let her suffer but right now she's not suffering. So I am keeping my fingers crossed. I know she is old...but I will never stop trying until there's absolutely no hope left.I will continue to keep you updated.
LoriDR and Rosie4, thank you. <3 and thanks to everyone else. I really appreciate your prayers for my Jasmine. I will keep you all updated.

SirEddysMomma, thank you too. <3 I'm so sorry that you were crying all night for your sweet Eddy. I was also missing my girl, Hershey, so much yesterday. Some days are okay and some days are not so good. I know how you feel. Jasmine is doing pretty good today. I'm just going to keep doing what I'm doing and see how long it works. I'm trying my hardest to not think about my Hershey too much right now (it's hard though) and keep my focus on keeping Jasmine healthy for right now. Oh how I wish our furry kids could stay with us forever <3 ((HUGS)) to everyone......
and I'll come back for another update soon. |
