Hi Aunt Meri, Birthday Boy Silver, Mozie, Kuggs, and everybody,

We are here at the Cafe preparing to toast Silver on his 13th birthday!!!  Coffee, tea, warm milk and sparking water is being served with the huge birthday cake and other goodies. There is much excitement in the air!  All the Bridge babies are arriving and are getting ready to sing Happy Birthday.   Betsy will do a solo yodel in Silver's honor.  Come on down everybody!!

Gracie and Murphy
(our mom, Melissa, is here, too!)

Hi Sandie, Roberta, Aunt Meri,

The party is still going on!  Hershey says Bridge parties actually sometimes last for days, so the Bridge babies came expecting to be at the Cafe for awhile.  Pull up a chair and have a piece of cake.  Hershey is getting ready to toast "L'Chaim" to Silver and Betsy's yodeling like crazy.  Murphy and Magic are dancing!

Love and hugs,

Just slipping quietly in amidst the ongoing renovations to hoist a warm drink. (Hot chocolate and whipped cream in my case.) I love the interim name of the Cafe.

325 has a very trendy name. A kind-of-updated look for the Cafe which has undergone several renovations and seen so many patrons through hard times.  At one point it was a Bar and Grill even, as well a Cafe and for a while it also had a gym and a spa. I have found so much healing here, playing with good friends, laughing, noshing, comparing photos and sharing heartsongs. I seem to recall we even had a "Jammy" party one night.

So in honour of all of us but especially in honour of EdW who made healing possible for so many of us, in so many ways, I will be sitting by the fireplace, watching little Gracie our waitress put on the live entertainment and I will be raising a few in memory.

Dear friends just walking by -

Come in out of the cold. Be ushered in and celebrated with amongst friends, cherished in both the little and big things of life, and the very fabric of our lives and our losses. Jump in. There is no plot. There is a never-ending cast of most excellent characters. A cyber Fellowship of the Rings, as it were.

Hope to see you here soon.

Just a word of caution however... Watch you don't get stuck with the tab on the weekends.

Good to see you there, Colleen...

I probably will get stuck with the tab, although it is the end of the weekend....

I'll have a cappuchino and a crumpet with peanut butter on ...

Hey Mags, good to see you here, dear heart.

Maybe a quiet table over by the fireplace will suffice. I guess there will be just you, me and Little Gracie.

I came across this when someone forwarded it to me but it reminded me of our beloved Cafe where everyone knows your name.

Lord Of the Rings meets Cheers

Yoo hoo, I'll be keeping a seat warm beside me for you, Viggo.

And for once the tab is on me.

Just slipping into a very quiet dark corner to have a spot of tea - and I don't even drink tea! :)

I don't have any real Internet access these days and this is one of the few sites I can get to, so I wanted to say I am thinking of you all and missing you.

The drinks are on me, of course.

Love,

Colleen

Dearest Colleen, how about if I slip into that same corner with you, where it is quiet and no one will ask us to do anything?  My mother always made us 'milk tea' when we were children, very weak tea with lots of milk and sweetener - one of my favorite memories.  But since you're not a tea drinker, let's have a frothy drink with whipped cream on top.

And I'll pick up the tab.  :)  Gracie has the day off because she now has a screened porch to enjoy.

Thinking of you dear heart,

Barb

I feel such a stranger here now but Barb, your last message was so inviting, even though it was for our dear friend, Colleen. So, I'm dropping by for a visit as I used to so enjoy the Cafe and the company too.
Perhaps I could have a real treat and have some strawberry shortcake and some lovely jasmine green tea and a little milk added to the tea.
I'll snuggle in to the most comfortable chair, sit by the fireplace and just day dream. These past few years have been challenging and rest and reflection is just the best way to spend my hours these days. Those of you who know me, will understand why.
So, dear friends, do join me and perhaps we can listen to a CD of Cirque du Soleil music, which for me is very soothing.
Colleen is still 'under the weather' and so we need to treat her very gently when she arrives here again.
Hello to all, I've missed you all very much during my absence. I'll be visiting again often now.

Hello everyone ... am so tired, I don't know what I want to drink .... so will just put my feet up in the corner seat and gaze out of the window and the tulips and blossom and trees and grass and blue sky.

In fact, I'll go out into the garden then lie on the lawn......come and tickle my feet, if you wish....

Hi Mags, I need to escape from the world, so a few hours at the Cafe sound wonderful. Healing is going to take a major amount of my flagging energy right now. Mozie and Kuggy were just in for belly rubs and Sil had an ear scratch and mom is nursing a large ice tea. Hope all is well at your house. Time also to use the last of the Hucks from 08 and hope for a great 09 season. Hugs and woofs Meri and the crew

((((((((((((((((((( Mags))))))))))))))))))))

Come sit by me in the sunshine by the tulips on the patio.

Little Gracie just opened up it up today in honor of spring being here finally. It has been a long cold winter but spring is finally here. Barb has been hard at work on the flower beds here and they are looking beautiful, as always.

Have a warm cuppa of your favorite tea on me and your favorite scone and jam. May even a spot of tomato and orange soup first to perk you up. I promise not to tickle your toes (too much :) but I can't vouch for little Gracie. She seems to be in a very playful mood these days. I believe those bubbles are cat-nipped flavored.

And Meri and gang ~ rest up!!! The tab is on me and anything you want goes. As you know iced teas are a specialty of the Cafe.

Maybe we will even have a Flower Show later if all the gang drops by.

Love to all,

Colleen

Rapidly becoming a steamy hot day here in Alabama.  Gracie wisely has flopped down on the cool wood floor.  But the coreopsis I grew from seed last year are back and their sunny yellow blooms provide some much-needed cheer for anyone who sees them.

So, if you don't mind, Colleen and Mags, I'll join you at the charming table.  You don't mind if I'm barefoot....

I am so garden-impaired, as a city girl, I didn't even know what coreopsis were. When I Googled and found a picture, I found out what I thought were black-eyed susans really aren't. Good thing I am not taking care of the gardens!

While little Gracie is resting, I will do the honors serving. For once, the tab is on me.

Wendy's strawberry shortcake looks wonderful.

Bare feet are always welcome BTW.

When the Hucks ripen in late summer, they can be added to the meu at the Cafe. We will leave the Grizzlies stashed in Glacier and just enjoy the Indian Paint Brush and Bitterroot donw in the valley. The meadow Larks are singing and the Blue Birds are back. So too are our Hunmmingbirds. Time for another Ice Tea. Hugs Meri and the crew

Just slipping in to savor one of those smart ice-cream drinks with a little pink umbrella in it - hold the amaretto, please, Little Gracie.

I wanted to wish all of us fur mom's and human mom's a blessed and very Happy Mother's Day. Even if our little ones are no longer with us, but waiting at the Bridge, we are Mom's for all Eternity. The love and connection truly is forever.

I also wanted to leave you with some flowers. The Canadian Tulip Festival in Canada's capital, Ottawa, is in full-swing right now. The very first tulip festival in the city was held in 1953 and organized by the photographer Malak Karsh. It traces its origins back to World War 2. During it, when Holland was over-run, the Dutch royal family was sheltered in Ottawa. In great gratitude in 1945 when Holland was liberated, the royal family donated 100,000 tulip bulbs to Ottawa. Each year 20,000 more are donated from Holland's Royal family and the Dutch Bulb Grower's Association along with many, many thousands planted by the Parks and Recreation Ministry and residents of Ottawa. Last year three million tulips were planted in total. (Here-in ends the history lesson and starts the pictures. LOL)

The last picture is provided courtesy of Paul Shannon on Wikimedia Commons and the rest are tourism shots. Enjoy!

Is anyone here?
I've just checked back all through page 9 and really enjoyed all the photographs, compliments of our dear Colleen. For those of you who aren't aware, Colleen needs your prayers and good thoughts as she is dealing with a serious heart condition, which has been an ongoing problem for over a year now. That's why she doesn't post at Petloss grief message board or the Cafe very often. There is a little thread for her which I've added to today, Prayers for Colleen, on the Rainbow Bridge message board. Everyone is welcome to add their good thoughts for her as I think she does check and read Petloss often.

Where is everyone? Lots of 'visitors' reading, but not much posting here. And the cafe is such a great little place to visit and just relax, and enjoy the friendship of others who are popping into the cafe for a little drink and maybe even a snack. For those calorie counting, there are no calories in any of the treats served here! Magic!

Maybe we should invite the cast of the new Harry Potter movie soon to be in theaters, perhaps that would bring more to the cafe? I'd like to reserve a seat beside Harry and Dumbledore. Does anyone mind? And maybe find out how to purchase an invisibility cloak?

Share your ideas on what special power you would like to possess?

Time for my tea and a jam covered crumpet! Are you listening, Mags?

Happy summertime everyone,
Wendy

Hello everyone,
It's been just a month since I last visited and a few have dropped by the cafe to enjoy a cuppa and a snack too.

Today being 9/11, I thought it may be good to get together just for a little while to have a serious silent moment thinking about the impact that 9/11 had on so many lives, those lost and those left to grieve. Perhaps we could vow to live our lives just with a bit more adventure in each day.

And then I'm going to make a big pot of peppermint tea and have chocolate chip cookies for a little snack while we visit.

So, who will drop by?

Our dear Colleen is about the same and is not dropping by Petloss due to fatigue daily. We can all send her our good wishes too.

Anyway, the tea will be ready soon, and the cookies are waiting!

No one ever visits the cafe anymore!

It's gone from being a real hub for those wanting a little rest and conversation.

It was whimsical, imaginative and certainly enjoyed by those who visited.

As it's nearly 6 years now since I first visited Petloss and have still contact with several of the friend who I met in that first year here, I occasionally check here to say 'hello.'

It seems mostly, I say 'hello' to myself!

Where is everyone?

Halloween is coming up quickly, so, anyone up for a Halloween party? I could provide some decorations. Who wants to bring some yummies and little Gracie might just be serving some steaming hot chocolate or herbal tea.

Let's have a little reunion and a welcome to newcomers.

Is anyone here? This place truly is a ghost cafe now! For Halloween it was fine, but let's get this cafe up and running again. Lots of folks visit, given the thousands who are counted as reading posts but not posting. What will it take to have more folks drop by and stay for a cup of their favorite brew or tea? It's good for the soul to have this imaginative cafe for a little break from the day to day tasks or perhaps posting on the grief board.

I'm here just for a little while to have some hot chocolate with a swirl of whipped cream to console me a bit as it's my dear Decker's 6th Bridgeday today. I've posted on the other board, but if some others drop by to share a bit of time, I'd enjoy the company. I've just shed a few tears but now know that the time here will be soothing as it always is for me.

So, Meri, you mentioned dropping by and here I am. If you'd like a hot chocolate too, my treat! Let's perhaps have a little snack too, how about poppyseed lemon cake. One of my fav's at a coffee shop. Anyone else reading this, by all means pull up a chair for a visit too.

Stories? Well, let's see, in one month, I will have just spent three days in Paris, France! That will be a dream come true with another visit there in January, for 5 days then to really tour the beautiful, historical city. That will be after spending time in England, Scotland and Spain to visit cousins who I've not seen for 15 years. As British born, over my adult years, I've spent holidays with the same dear cousins, who are all getting older as the years go by, as they do! My holiday weeks, Dec. 18th to Jan 3rd, will be near the east coast of Valencia, Spain. To travel within Europe is something that I have wanted to do for many years now and this is the trip to do so. I may venture out and about in Spain and visit Madrid. Have any of you reading this visited there and do you have any tips for exploring the city or even Spain/France?

Anyway, I'll be having the trip of a lifetime over 5 weeks. In the next four weeks, some of my time will be a crash course in French and Spanish, just to make the travelling there a little easier. Wish me luck with my Bonjour's and Merci's!

So, perhaps some of you could tell your own stories of far away travels or trips planned while we visit here at the Cafe.

Anyway, whoever visits, a huge welcome from the staff here who really have been very lonely for company too!

Who's here for tea?

Hi everyone, My new Zanie toys are all over thelivingroom and bed. Mom said I would get my Griggles when we come home from Bollings later today. There is much excitement in our house, yesterday my Zeydah would have been 94, our beloved New York Yankees won the World Series and today I am two. So, join us for breafast and toast me, the Kuggster, our Yankees and know that we will be celebrating all day. Hershey is banging his drum for his Yankees and mom said that he and Bobby Murcer watched the entire series and send tears and woofs of joy to us last night. Mom in her excitement dumped an entire bowl of popcorn when the last out was made and she did not even say no when we polished off what she spilled. Okay, I am going to play with a Griggle or two. Slurps the Kuggster.

Happy Birthday, Kuggster! from Abbey schnauzer here and Missy Molly and Cricket at the Bridge. I want to know: what's a Griggle? Is it something to eat? That last question is the standard, #1 question on a schnauzer's mind.

Wow - toys everywhere - all day celebration.... - the Yankees won the World Series! - extra popcorn hee hee. And Griggles, not a clue what that is - Mom once again is headed to the dictionary!!

We are all having a latte in your honor. Mom's is fully loaded but ours is caffeine free (not sure why...)

We hope your day is full of fun and treats!!! Take care of your bros and Mom.

Hi all, griggles are fun. They wiggle and giggle and tickle. They squeek and squak and explode all over the furniture, carpet and cloths. The stuffing sticks to everything. All of us have grggles for my birthday and also Zanies. We had some cow ears to chomp and loads of other treats. I am pooped out so I am going to get up on the coach and watch the Yankees on the Letterman Show. Woofs to all the Kuggster and thanks for all the good wishes.
